MARY ELLEN DAVIS completed undergraduate studies at the University of Central Florida, in Orlando, Florida, in 1989. She came to Tallahassee in August, 1989 to attend the Florida State University College of Law, where she graduated in May 1992, and was admitted to The Florida Bar on October 3, 1992.While in law school, Mary Ellen Davis clerked for attorney Thomas A. “Tommy” Warren who represented the Plaintiffs in what became the largest class action lawsuit for race discrimination ever filed in Federal Court. Ultimately, the lawsuit settled for $ 32.5 million dollars. Mary Ellen continued as an attorney with Tommy Warren upon her admission to The Florida Bar, and supervised a team of paralegals in the administration of the settlement agreement, involving more than 30,000 claimants. Between 1995 and 1997 Mary Ellen worked for Albert C. Penson, branching out from Employment Discrimination into Estate Planning and Probate of Estates, Inverse Condemnation, Construction and Contract Litigation, and Commercial Transactions and Business Law. Following her move to Shell Point in 1997, Mary Ellen Davis Law Office came to Crawfordville as she opened her own practice in Wakulla County, Florida. Mary Ellen Davis Law Office opened in May of 1998, at 17 High Drive Suite C, Crawfordville, Florida, where she remains today, with her partner and associates. Mary Ellen Davis has reunited with Al Penson as a partner in the firm Penson, Duchemin & Davis, P.A. Mary Ellen practices in the areas of Estate Planning, Probate of Estates, Commercial Transactions and Business Law, Trademark, Real Estate, and Collections. Mary Ellen has been an active community leader in Wakulla County, having served as a member of the Rotary Club of Wakulla County since 1997, and as its President in 2003-2004. Mary Ellen has also served on the Board of Directors of the Wakulla County Chamber of Commerce since 2000, and was President of the chamber in 2005. Under the leadership of Mary Ellen Davis, the Wakulla County Chamber of Commerce instituted the Business Excellence Awards and the Environmental Stewardship in Development Award. Mary Ellen is admitted to practice in the State of Florida, and in the United States District Court for the Northern District of Florida. Mary Ellen is married to Hugh Davis, they have a son Nick Davis and she is step-mom to Kelly, Hugh the IV, Ricklie, and Hilary Davis. Hugh and Mary Ellen, Nick and Hilary are members of Crawfordville United Methodist Church. |
